Piceance

The Piceance basin in northwest Colorado is characterized by thick natural gas accumulations primarily in the Williams Fork formation. We entered the Piceance basin in 2001 with the acquisition of the Mamm Creek field, where production has increased significantly.

We added to our position in this area when we acquired Tom Brown Inc. in 2004.

At Piceance in 2008:

  • we drilled approximately 328 net wells
  • our production averaged 385 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of natural gas

Production of natural gas in the Piceance is enough to supply more than 2 million households each day.
