With donations to local schools totaling more than $560,000 in recent years, Encana is proud to support education in its operating communities in the DJ Basin.
Encana’s support of the St. Vrain Valley School District in Colorado’s DJ Basin has grown into a thoughtful, strategic partnership dedicated to the success of local students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
STEM studies are the key to opening the door to many careers in the energy industry. To support district schools, we have invested more than $560,000 in recent years to provide students with access to technology tools that are expanding their learning experiences.
Firestone’s Prairie Ridge Elementary utilized a technology grant to purchase 60 laptops and 30 tablets that will enable their 450 students to extend lessons beyond the classroom. At Red Hawk Elementary in Erie, a similar investment funded 73 tablets for nearly 700 elementary school students. And at Aspen Ridge Prep School, the entire third-grade class now has access to 20 laptops and 24 tablets.
“By integrating technology into the curriculum through active, student-centered learning we can maximize our students’ learning potential by fostering collaboration, creativity, critical and innovative thinking across all content areas in our STEM-focused school,” explained Cyrus Weinberger, Principal at Red Hawk Elementary.
