Tackling violence against women in B.C.

Back

We are taking to the field in British Columbia this season with the B.C. Lions football team and the Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) by supporting their “Be More Than a Bystander” campaign.

The two-year partnership will see sports icons from the Lions use their public profile to promote awareness about violence against women and urge people to break the silence on the issue.

“Be More Than a Bystander” is an innovative initiative aimed at substantially increasing understanding of the impact of violence against women. The program provides tools, language and practical ideas about how to be more than a bystander, how to speak up and how to communicate that violence and abuse is not acceptable. Founding partners also include Status of Women Canada and the provincial Ministry of Children and Family Development.

For more information on the “Be More Than a Bystander” campaign and to see some of the Lions players’ public service announcements, visit the EVA BC website.
