Employee coaches, like this group in Denver, promote Team Encana and encourage employees to give back during the month-long campaign.
Encana Cares, our signature annual fundraising program, raised more than $2.9 million in 2014 for more than 1,100 charities across our operating areas.
Through Encana Cares, employees can make personal donations to their registered charities of choice. All donations are matched by Encana to a maximum of $25,000 per employee each year. This year’s employee pledges totaled more than $1.3 million.
This year’s campaign also saw fundraising events organized by groups of employee volunteers in Canada and the U.S. including 50/50 raffles, chili cook-offs, bake sales, ping pong tournaments, mini golf challenges and pumpkin carving contests.
These events, in addition to the sale of passes to allow staff to wear jeans or team jerseys to work, added more than $150,000 to the total funds raised.
In all, nearly three-quarters of our workforce participated in fundraising that contributed to Encana Cares. Throughout the campaign, staff in Calgary and Denver proudly shared why participating in Encana Cares matters to them:
