(From left to right) Encana President & CEO Doug Suttles joined John Williams, Trilogy Energy President & COO; Mark Selkeld, Petroleum Services of Canada President & CEO and Scott Thon, Altalink President & CEO in raising funds for STARS.
Encana’s longstanding partnership with STARS Air Ambulance reached new heights in 2014.
Our CEO Doug Suttles recently participated in the STARS CEO Rescue in the Rockies fundraiser to support the organization’s mission of providing a safe, rapid and highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured.
"STARS operates in and around many of Encana’s operating areas, providing critical care to our staff and their families,” says Doug. “Ensuring that everyone gets home in the same shape they left in the morning means a great deal to me, and I’m proud to support an organization with an equal level of commitment and passion for health and safety.”
During the event, four leaders from the business community including Doug were flown to a remote mountain location in Alberta. Equipped with only a cell phone, each CEO “dialed for survival” to friends and colleagues, raising a total of more than $1 million for STARS.
While on the mountain, Doug and the other participants faced several challenges that tested their survival skills, including the “King of the Mountain” challenge, where they were tasked with lighting a fire with limited resources.
Doug tweeted about his adventure on September 26, the day of the event. To find out what he said and saw, visit Encana’s Twitter profile.
