Encana staff helped to create this outdoor classroom at the Carbon Valley Regional Library located in Firestone, Colorado.
Members of Encana’s team in Colorado’s DJ Basin, recently rolled up their sleeves to help the Carbon Valley Regional Library with some heavy lifting. The library, which is located in a community where Encana operates, had a wish-list project to transform the natural landscape into an interactive and educational trail and outdoor classroom system.
Encana staff and contractors stepped up to literally break ground on the project by moving large boulders, relocating more than 30 trees and re-surfacing the ground. The resulting outdoor classroom can now be enjoyed by visitors to the library, with additional features to be added over time. Once complete, there are plans for story walks, an outdoor education series, astronomy sessions/classes, holiday lights and festivities, and much more.
Grassroots support by Encana’s local DJ team, along with their donation of labor, equipment and materials was just what the library needed to get the project off the ground.
“There are just not enough words to express the gratitude we feel toward the extraordinarily professional people and quality of work that Encana has provided us, “ says Lorraine Schierer, Library Associate. “This project could not be accomplished without this involvement on so many levels.”
Encana invests in communities where we operate by supporting projects and partnering with local stakeholders to contribute to community life and well-being.
