We proudly support community trails initiatives in our Duvernay and Montney (pictured left) operating areas.
In Fox Creek, Alberta, located in the Duvernay, we supported the Bike Park and Trail Project spearheaded by the Fox Creek Nordic and Trail Club after the club identified a community need for better outdoor recreation facilities.
Since opening in October, the trail system has been used by hundreds of area residents. Four viewpoints along the trails offer hikers and bikers breathtaking river views of the natural wilderness that surrounds Fox Creek.
The trails are a community gathering point for fitness and recreation as well as for special events such as the popular illuminated night hike for Halloween that was also supported by Encana.
"We truly believe our project will have a permanent, positive impact on everyone in our community and Encana has played a critical role in making this happen," says Michelle Williscroft, President of the Fox Creek Nordic and Trail Club.
In British Columbia and our Montney operations we are supporting the enhancement of the first segment of the Paradise Valley recreation trail system from Dawson Creek to Tumbler Ridge being led by the Paradise Valley Snowmobile Club.
Upgrades are expected to include trail relocation, bridge installation, stream bank stabilization and stream crossings. The goal is to increase trail access and enjoyment for all users.
The trails in both of Encana’s operating areas will provide recreational opportunities for people of all ages for years to come, and are examples of Encana’s commitment to being a good neighbor in communities where we operate.
