Encana recognizes that First Nations, Inuit and Métis people have unique interests and rights, and maintaining close relationships with Canada's Indigenous peoples is integral to our business. We strive for positive relationships with communities near our operations by respecting cultural values and collaborating on community investment, educational and economic development opportunities.
A unique initiative is under way to select the best plants to restore areas that have been disturbed by oil and natural gas development in northeast British Columbia. Read how we are working with Treaty 8 First Nations in an innovative replanting program.
We support programs focused on increasing Indigenous participation in post-secondary education and leadership training including our partnership in the Ch’nook Indigenous Business Education Initiative and the Native Ambassador Post-Secondary (NAPI) Program.
We also have limited awards available for post-secondary schooling with the Northern Lights College (NLC) and the Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC). See more information on the NLC Encana Indigenous Student Award and the GPRC Encana Year End Award.
