Community information

Encana is committed to sharing information to build and maintain long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our stakeholders.

Our communities in the Duvernay include Fox Creek, Valleyview and the Municipal District of Greenview. We also work with the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation where we have supported the celebration of National Aboriginal Day.

As a member of the Fox Creek Operators Group, we encourage a collaborative approach to the responsible development of oil and gas resources in the Fox Creek area. Encana, along with representatives from Apache Corporation, Athabasca Oil Corporation, Chevron Canada Limited, Shell Canada Limited, Talisman Energy Inc. and Trilogy Energy participates in the group. The group will work together to support development in Fox Creek by identifying efficiencies related to oil and gas development.

Our commitment to community

Our Community Investment program strives to promote environmental stewardship, enhance the skill sets of the next generation of industry workers and support the needs of communities where we live and operate through our three funding pillars: environment, education and community life.

In the Duvernay, Encana supports community life and well-being initiatives identified by local residents as priorities.

Our support has enhanced the development of the Fox Creek trail system and provided equipment for both the local hospital and fire departments in Fox Creek.

Courtesy Matters

We operate on the basis of trust, integrity and respect, principles that are the foundation of our Courtesy Matters program.
