Accounting/Finance New Grad Development Program

Encana's Accounting/Finance new grad development program accelerates the rate of professional development through a combination of training and on-the-job experience. It lasts for approximately two years and allows the new grad to quickly become a contributing member of the Encana team. The program consists of introductory coursework followed by a rotation program tailored to focus on your area of expertise - Finance or Accounting. Our Accounting/Finance teams are embedded within each Encana business unit, thus allowing for positions in both Denver and Dallas.

The first two weeks of the program consist of an introduction to oil and gas accounting and finance at Encana, building upon the Lifecycle of Gas concepts introduced during Orientation. It includes an overview of the complexities associated with oil and gas finance and accounting, the various processes and workflows within finance and accounting and the software and systems used at Encana.

Following the introductory coursework, new grads complete four rotations in their respective Finance or Accounting track. These rotations include such areas as business unit finance, revenue, joint interest accounting, procurement, gathering and business unit or financial reporting. Preliminary classroom work to introduce each area is followed by a working assignment with the appropriate business unit finance or accounting team, where the new grad will learn and perform the functions relevant to the area. The new grads will work closely with a team coach, who will guide them through the rotational learning process and serve as a technical resource.

Throughout the development period, each new grad will report to a Finance Development Advisor. The Development Advisor is responsible for facilitating the overall professional development of each new grad and ensuring that the program is meeting the needs of each individual and the company. The Development Advisor also serves as a resource for both personal and professional mentoring for each new grad.
